About Us

Welcome to the NANOSMAT School, which we are delighted to launch after 12 years since the inception of the first ever NANOSMAT conference held in 2005 at the University of Aveiro in Portugal.

NANOSMAT events attract many talented researchers from around the world and to provide these mainly younger researchers with a stimulating platform to “interact” and “learn” from the best scientists in the world in assisting them to develop themselves in their studies, research and development work.

Various Nobel Laureates have given keynote lectures at NANOSMAT conferences, including the late Professor H. W. Kroto (USA), Professor Jean Marie-Lehn (France), Professor Peter Grunberg (Germany), Professor Albert Fert (France) and Professor Andrei Geim (UK).

NANOSMAT also focuses on publication of high quality manuscripts in international peer-reviewed journals. NANOSMAT events have produced a number high quality special issues of international peer-review journals such as Applied Surface Science (Elsevier), Thin Solid Films (Elsevier), International Journal of Hydrogen Energy (Elsevier), Nanomedicine (Elsevier), International Journal of Energy Research (Wiley), Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (American Scientific Publishers), Catalysis Today (Elsevier), Journal of Materials Science (Springer), Microelectronic Engineering (Elsevier), Vacuum (Elsevier), Surface & Coatings Technology (Elsevier) etc.

The continual organisation of educational programmes such as (i) short courses, (ii) workshops, (iii) tutorials and (iv) competitions for young researchers (lecture & best poster competitions) has been a long tradition for NANOSMAT. A number of excellent and outstanding international speakers have lectured in these NANOSMAT programmes. The continued success of these programmes coupled with the levels of appreciations and positive feedback we constantly receive from the attendees has led us to launch the NANOSMAT SCHOOL. The inaugural school will be held at the Pierre Marie Curie University in Paris, France during 11-13 September 2017. The schools in general will run, each year, for 4-5 days.

We look forward to your active participation in the NANOSMAT SCHOOL’s.
